A British-flagged yacht sank in the Strait of Gibraltar on Wednesday after being attacked by a killer whale.
The Bonhomme William sailed from Gibraltar and all three crew members were rescued by a sea rescue vessel and taken to Barbate Island.
The crew reported by radio to the Tarifa Maritime Rescue Coordination Center that their rescue boat had been struck by multiple whales about two miles from Camarinal Point, rendering the rescue boat inoperable.

The Salvarma Enif found the crew with the help of flares and sighted their half-sunken ship.
The crew members were rescued at around 11:30 that night and are currently in good health.
This is the latest in a series of recent incidents involving boats and whales in the area.
In early July, the Kerba was attacked by five giant whales and had to be towed to Ceuta.
In May, a yacht named the Alboran Cognac was attacked and sunk about 14 miles off Cape Spartel, Tangier.
An oil tanker heading to Gibraltar collided with a whale, causing damage to the ship’s rudder and oil leakage. The ship was drifting and two crew members were rescued.
In the same month, the sailing ships Malaika and Galaxia‘ It was damaged by a whale attack and had to be towed to Barbate Island.
