Green light given to land transfer for La Massana River diversion

The future diversion of the road in Massana is progressing well. As announced, while the work on the first section is ongoing, the planning agreements that must allow the completion of the different phases have been completed. During the meeting of the Common Council held today in Massana, an agreement for the early transfer of the road for the affected section of the road was approved, which, as pointed out by the Consul, the Elder Eva Sansa, is considered a priority infrastructure. It affects in particular the 3rd section of the diversion, that is, the section from Cabanota to the Palanques Bridge. The part of the land granted is very close to the roundabout where the three main derivation points of this variant converge. The works will be carried out by the government and are expected to start by the end of this year.

During today’s meeting, different credit supplements were approved that will be financed through the Treasury. One of the most prominent will be dedicated to Christmas illuminations and the public lighting network. Councillor Kevin Poulet explained that with the installation of 175 new LED lamps, the parish will achieve 95% low-energy lighting. On the other hand, a credit supplement was also approved for the construction of a 60-meter section of pedestrian walkway in the Bosquet area between Aldosa and Anyos, as well as part of the installation of new cameras for video surveillance. Another outstanding expenditure will be used for the organization of sports events through a donation to the Arinsalpal mountain station. Councillor Mònica Solé evaluated the dynamism of the World Championships, the Mountain Ski World Cup and other events.

Regarding question time, the minority MPs focused on the load study, asking about possible flaws in the study, as they believe that the conclusions are too general. Major Eva Sansa suggested that they raise points that they believe need to be further deepened and dealt with in the technical meeting. On the other hand, Sansa assured that “an important part of the load study is water resources, and we have already acted accordingly, suspending planning permits and establishing a quota system for construction, in addition to investments in network improvements”. Consul Major explained that several meetings have been held with the quarters and landowners, and that the quota system is yielding positive returns in terms of order and curbing growth. However, Sansa clarified that several meetings are still missing. As for the roadmap for improving the drinking water network, Sansa said that the search for water sources in groundwater will begin in a month. In this mission, a total investment of 8 million euros is planned to be made in improving the water supply network.
