Mr. Mohamed Mubashir MASSAQUOI, Director General of NCRA, is currently in Zambia attending a CRVS conference at the invitation of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which aims to improve civil registration and vital statistics.
The meeting, held in Lusaka, Zambia, focused on how to improve CRVS by collecting vital events information through the Sample Registration System (COVERS), an initiative aimed at strengthening civil registration, vital events statistics and identity systems worldwide, with a particular focus on Africa.
โDespite its fragmented CRVS system in the past, Sierra Leone has rich experience and success stories in this regard, which we hope you will share with other countries present here,โ said Dr. Nossa of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in a conversation with Mr. Mohamed Mubashir MASSAQUOI, Director General of NCRA.
The Director General of NCRA is a well-known figure in Sierra Leone and the African continent for his outstanding contributions in the civil registration, vital statistics and identity management systems covering births and deaths (certificates), marriages, divorces and adoptions, as well as the NIN for service delivery.
Under the leadership of Director General Massakoyi, Sierra Leone has made substantial progress on CRVS and has received global recognition. I thank His Excellency President Bio and our development partners for their support.
The seminar brought together experts and officials from more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia, America and Europe.
Other representatives from Sierra Leone included representatives from the Ministry of Health, Statistical Service Sierra Leone, National Public Health Service and research institutions.
Under DG Massaquoiโs leadership, NCRA has achieved a remarkable transformation in just five years and has been recognized across the African continent.
Sierra Leone is on the right path to improve service delivery and NCRA is one such example that has successfully integrated civil registration, vital statistics and identity management and linked it with other agencies for efficient and accountable service delivery
