BMW Hong Kong said the recent cybersecurity incident affecting the company involved information containing customer data being processed by a third party. The company’s investigation showed that approximately 14,000 customer records were affected, including titles, names, mobile phone numbers and SMS subscription options.
The company has immediately reported the incident to the police and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data. External cyber security experts will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
