Timor-Leste will attend the 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and related meetings in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, from 21 to 27 July 2024. 
The Timor-Leste delegation was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, and accompanied by the Timor-Leste Vice-Minister for ASEAN Affairs and Leader of the Senior Officials’ Meeting, Milena Rangel.
In addition to the 57th WMA, Timor-Leste will also participate in several parallel meetings such as the Southeast Asia Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Commission Meeting (SEANWFZ), the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and the interaction of representatives of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Meeting (PMC), the 25th ASEAN Plus Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (25th APT FMM), the 14th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (14th EAS FMM) and the 31st ASEAN Regional Forum (31st ARF, for its English acronym). 
As part of the official programme, the ASEAN and Timor-Leste Foreign Ministers will also pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Sonexay Siphandone.
During these meetings, Foreign Minister Freitas will share the progress in implementing Timor-Leste’s roadmap for full accession to ASEAN and exchange views on regional and international issues.
During the official meeting, Minister Bendito Freitas will also hold bilateral meetings with several ASEAN external partners, aimed at discussing Timor-Leste’s process of joining ASEAN and exploring areas of future cooperation to strengthen bilateral relations.
