King Oba Eware II of Benin has called on the Federal Government to expedite the implementation of economic policies to alleviate the hardships currently faced by Nigerians.
The Nigerian King, speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Osagbowo Iguabaro, on Wednesday in Benin, called on Nigerians to postpone the nationwide protests scheduled for August 1, 2024.
The monarch said this would give the government time to implement its economic strategy.
Oba Eware II’s request came following an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee of the Nigeria Council of Traditional Rulers in Abuja.
“Following an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee of the National Council of Traditional Rulers, Omo Noba called on the people at large to give the Federal Government enough time to implement economic policies that will alleviate the hardships currently faced by Nigerians.
“Omo N’Oba called on those planning to hold a nationwide protest on August 1 to shelve the plan. Omo N’Oba also urged the Federal Government to intensify the implementation of its economic and security policies,” the statement added.
