Greece supports the efforts of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and his personal envoy Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar for the reunification of Cyprus, diplomatic sources in Athens reported.
Greek diplomatic sources said in a report on the Cyprus issue that “maintaining the status quo, occupying one-third of the island’s territory and creating two states are not solutions.”
They noted that “we remain committed to resolving the Cyprus problem within the framework of the UN Security Council decisions that provide for a bizonal, bicommunal federal solution”.
In this regard, the same source added, “We support the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to achieve the reunification of the island”.
