The Qatar Handball Federation has released the preliminary list of the national team in preparation for the 29th Men’s World Championships scheduled to be held in Croatia, Denmark and Norway from January 14 to February 2, 2025.

The list includes 22 players: Youssef Al-Tayeb Bin Ali, Amin Muwaffaq Zakkar, Mirnis Karcho Wilder Mimišević (Al-Rayyan), Abdul Rahman Tariq Al-Abdullah, Mustafa Amir Haiba, Ahmed Mohamed Maddi, Rafael de Costa Capote, Bilal Labinka , Alaa Al-Din Nabil Al-Rashed, Amin Nour Al-Din Quhais and Hamdi Al-Nouri Ayyad (Al-Duhail), Erhad Al-Yahozdić, Wajdi Ibrahim Sinan, Anis Abdel-Razzaq Zawawi and Nidal Al-Hadi Issa. (Al-Arabi), Amir Nour Al-Din Dunqir, Abdel-Razzaq Ahmed Murad and Zarko Marković (Al-Gharafa), Marwan Ali Sassi and Yassin Hammadi Sami (Al-Wakra) and Ibrahim Shibl Obaid (Al-Sadd).

The World Championship draw puts Qatar in Group 3 with France, Austria and Kuwait. Group 1 includes Germany, Czech Republic, Poland and Switzerland. Group 2 includes Denmark, Italy, Algeria and Tunisia. Group 4 includes Hungary, Netherlands, North Macedonia and Guinea. Group 5 includes Norway, Portugal and Brazil. Group 6 is Sweden, Spain and Japan. Group 7 is Slovenia, Iceland, Cuba and Cape Verde. Group 8 is Egypt, Croatia, Argentina and Bahrain.

The top three in each group qualify for the main competition.

The Qatari handball team will participate in the World Championship for the tenth time after Portugal in 2003, Tunisia in 2005, Germany in 2007, Spain in 2013, Qatar in 2015, France in 2017, Germany and Denmark in 2019, Egypt in 2021, Poland and Sweden in 2023. The second place in the Qatar World Cup in 2015 was the best result in the history of his participation in the World Cup.

It is worth noting that the Qatar team qualified for the World Championships by ranking first in the group at the 21st Asian Men’s Championship held in Bahrain last January. This was the sixth consecutive championship for the Qatar team. In the end, they defeated the Japanese team by (30) points.
