The final preparations for the opening of the junction between the A0 and A2 motorways are underway, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport Irinel Ionel Scrioşteanu announced. This junction is the most important section of the motorway this summer, as it will allow Bucharest residents to access the motorway directly to the seaside throughout the summer.
According to Scrioșteanu, the intersection will be put into operation next week. “I am at the construction site of Section 1 of the #A0 South Bucharest Motorway, at the intersection of two motorways, where construction work on one of the largest intersections in Romania is almost finished. In this live broadcast, I will give you more details about the status of works on the motorway section between DN4 and A2 (about 10 km), which is the next motorway section we will put into operation,” wrote Irinel Ionel Scrioșteanu.
The interchange between the two highways was built by Turkish association Alsim Alarko Sanayi Tesisleri ve Ticaret AS and is part of Plot 1, South of A0. It opened at the end of July.
Minister of Transport Sorin Grindeanu inspected the A0 motorway and announced that the junction will be put into use by the end of July. “Today I visited the A0, Plot 3 on the north side, and Plot 3 on the south side, and I crossed the entire southern semicircle to the junction of Plot 1 with the A2 motorway. I can tell you that we will finish this work by the end of this month, thus completing the connection with the A2 motorway to Constanta. In the A0 North area, Plot 3, we are very interested in putting into use this year about 2 kilometers that connect Plot 2 with DN2, and currently about 20 kilometers have been completed and 10 kilometers are in use because the other 10 are not currently in use because they are not unloaded. When the draw is done, the draw is done badly. That is why I tell you that our priority is to complete these 2 kilometers in the next few months so that we can unload at DN2,” said Grindeanu. He noted that in discussions with the contractor, he promised to complete the 2km section of 3 A0 North, which is necessary to connect to DN2, in November.
