Due to Russian shelling DTEK 90% of the electricity generated was lost, but the company plans to return most of it – 60-70% of the electricity generated. This was stated by Dmitry Sakharuk, Executive Director of DTEK Energy Holding, at the forum “Future of Energy Dialogue in Ukraine in Nevada”.

He added that the plan is to restore power generation by October, but only if there is no new shelling. Saharuk added that the DTEK power plant has no roof or walls. Therefore, even the refurbished equipment cannot work in the low winter temperatures.

– In low temperatures, even the equipment we repaired does not work. Now, without a roof, just cover the blocks with a piece of iron sheet and work in the open air. It rains, there is a short circuit, it shuts down. Until there is a roof, the station will not be able to operate normally. This is the reality. ” said the Executive Director of DTEK.

Saharuk also said that last season, power engineers had to repair 10 units; they spent $110 million of the company’s own funds without loans. This season, three times the amount of funds will need to be restored, with initial estimates of costs of $350-400 million.

When asked for advice on winter preparations, the DTEK chief responded: “On your own.”

– Rely on yourself. I mean it. Everything is in our hands, depends on each of us. If everyone thinks about how to get through the next winter and takes action, they will surely succeed. “He said.
