(July 16, 2024: Yap Tourism Bureau, Yap County, Federated States of Micronesia): Yap’s unique culture and traditions will be on display at the upcoming 3rd Micronesia Expo in Chuuk. The annual expo, which will be held from July 22-26, 2024, celebrates the rich culture and traditions of each state in the Federated States of Micronesia. The Yap Tourism Board will coordinate the event and participation in the expo, and a 40-person strong delegation will soon travel to Chuuk to represent Yap.
Yap cultural performances and displays will be held throughout the Expo, including on the afternoon of July 24.day During Yap Day at the Cultural Village, attendees will enjoy traditional dances or choral performances by the Rumung Dance Group. Members of Yapese women’s groups NIWA and YWA and the Tropical Touch souvenir shop will display and sell Yapese handicrafts and locally produced food and beverages. They will also demonstrate weaving and handicrafts, and highlight traditional Yapese tattoo designs and tattoos.
