The rice value chain includes the actors and processes that affect the final quality of this important food crop in the country (accounting for 90% of agricultural producers). Madagascar recently expressed its desire to collaborate with international partners at a seminar held in China.
The South-South Cooperation (CSS) meeting provided Madagascar with an opportunity to find partners in the rice value chain. The Ministry of Agriculture reported that the seminar served as a communication platform on the challenges of the rice value chain in African countries.
In fact, solutions to develop the rice value chain still need to be strengthened. The rice industry involves all stages from production to distribution. That is, from land preparation to planting, harvesting, drying, molding, packaging and sales. Each link in this chain must meet the economic benefits of the entire process. But most importantly, comply with the requirements of rice food self-sufficiency.
Rice yields have increased significantly, especially thanks to South-South cooperation in producing hybrid rice to support rice growth.
Remember that the Big Island government created the National Food Fortification Alliance ANFA in Madagascar. Is the vision of “Madagascar 2020, rice granary of sub-Saharan Africa and model for sustainable rice development” still in the news?
