TBC Concept collaborates with Davit Kakabadze Foundation to present Nino Chubinishvili/Chubika exhibition What does it mean to leave the tiptoe dance? Or maybe I will continue to be a butterfly in the war?

The TBC concept multi-functional space will host the exhibition from July 25 to September 15.

Two floors of the gallery are dedicated to exhibitions, the exhibitions on both floors are very different from each other, but despite the contrast, it creates a whole that offers the viewer a journey into the world of the artist, which evokes different emotions and questions.

The first floor gallery exhibits sculptures and installations created at different times, while the second floor exhibits his work created in 1998 – the handmade book “Elene” dedicated to his son, which is a single work created in language. Graphic sketches. This book is a special stage in the artist’s work and can be regarded as one of the foundational works related to his other projects.

As the author says: “In this book, I use an imaginative visual language to talk to my children, sharing what I cannot express or contain in words. The pictures contain the truth that the free imagination itself conveys without explanation.”


Maybe I will still be a butterfly in war?

This is the title of the exhibition presented on the first floor. The work reflects a situation that has no unified answer, and the interpretation expresses several complex combinations that cannot be resolved with just one cut. The accompanying text is a small version of this multidimensional dialogue, which, like the first work “Helen”, leaves a lot of room for thinkers and perceivers to think about questions, images or interpretations from multiple perspectives.

Nino Chubinishvili/ Chubica, (born 1969) lives and works in Tbilisi. After studying stage and costume design at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts in the 1990s, he won several awards for costume design. In 2005-2006, he continued his studies at the Institut Français de la Mode in Paris. Has experience working with fashion houses such as Kenzo and Pierre Cardin. Chubika is an important figure in the world of fashion and contemporary art. In the 1990s, he was a member of the informal multimedia artist group Goslab.
