Dreams come true, but it takes hard work. This life motto is reflected in Costa Rican Delaney Zuniga CortesWon two Emmy Awards for Best Television for his work as an executive producer for the Telemundo network in Colorado.

Zuniga has been with the channel for eight years and has won seven of these awards as a producer during her career. In the 2024 edition of this prestigious award, which rewards news production in addition to honoring artists, TV series and television programs, Zuniga and his crew won the awards for Best News Broadcast and Best Live Sports Coverage.

For best live sports coverage, the award recognized their work on the Denver Nuggets championship parade.

Délanny, originally from the United States, wife of Antonio Esqueda and mother of Matías (five) and Diego (two), commented with emotion on what this award means for her work and the importance of the companionship developed by the excellent team at Telemundo.

“The News Broadcast Award doesn’t just belong to the producers or the presenters, it definitely belongs to all of us behind the scenes. It’s gratifying that as a leader you have great colleagues and achieve such great results,” commented the Costa Rican.

“Covering the Nuggets means days of planning. In coverage, you have to do a lot of processing of images under the control and guidance of reporters, photographers and technical teams. But it’s worth it,” he added.

Zuniga’s previous award was the Best News Program Award in 2018. In 2019, he won the Best Environmental Program Award, the Best Political Program Award, and the Best Producer Award; and in 2023, he successfully won the title of Best News Broadcast.

Delany was unable to attend the graduation ceremony of the Latin University of Costa Rica as a journalist. When the incident happened, she had to go to the United States, where her mother, a US citizen, “claimed” her in order to obtain residency. Prior to this, the Costa Rican had been denied a visa several times, so she urgently needed to travel before she turned 21.

He left everything behind and, without any experience in communications, managed to find an internship at the Univisión network. His talent allowed him to work for five years at that important company.

For eight years, he was part of the production team at Telemundo Colorado and since then he has won seven Emmy Awards for Best Television.

“I’m very excited and proud. I’m a very dedicated person and I consider this job more of a ‘hobby’, something I’m passionate about. This news hits close to home for me,” the producer said.

Based on her experience, Délanny wants to share a message with people who want to achieve their dreams but are afraid to take on the challenge. “We can do anything we want, no matter where we are, in another country or in our own,” he said.
