The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) explained that the death toll of children in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has risen sharply over the past nine months, with one Palestinian child killed every two days since October 2023, a figure that has increased from the previous issue: UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell explained that 143 Palestinian children have died and more than 440 Palestinian children have been injured by live ammunition, while children in the West Bank have been shot since the recent escalation of the conflict. They are suffering from severe and increasing violence, calling for an immediate end to this violence.
Noting that more than half of the killings took place in Jenin, Tulkarm and Nablus, where military operations have increased, she called on all parties to end violence and protect children’s rights under international law.
