Microsoft said on Saturday that a global technical flaw related to a software update made by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike affected 8.5 million devices running Windows, or less than 1% of all devices running the system.
Microsoft said CrowdStrike could help develop more broadly applicable solutions to help speed up the patching process for Microsoft’s infrastructure, Reuters reported, adding that it is working with Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform to develop “more effective approaches.”
Travellers on flights around the world faced delays, cancellations and check-in issues, with airports and airlines experiencing major technical issues with their IT services, which also affected industries from banking to media.
