Emergency responders were called to two serious traffic accidents early Saturday morning, one of which involved the use of a lifeguard. The Guam Fire Department responded to the first accident at 12:17 a.m., in the area of Macheche Road and Ahu Lane in Dededo, where a vehicle collided with a utility pole. “GFD personnel extricated the vehicle and rescued the victim; CPR was then performed on the victim both at the scene and en route to the (Guam Regional Medical City),” said Nick Garrido, a GFD spokesperson. The victim was a male in his 60s, GFD reported. A few hours later, at 3:55 a.m. Saturday, GFD received a second call. This time it was in Leyang, Barrigada. “GFD units responded to Highway 10/Ching Bros. (Leyang entrance) for a vehicle collided with a utility pole. Upon arrival, personnel performed CPR on a male victim. However, due to the severity of the injuries, GFD paramedics terminated care,” said Garrido.
