EU Council extends all sanctions against Russia

Central Asia (CA) – The European Council has extended all restrictive measures imposed on Russia since 2014. The sanctions have been extended for six months, until January 31, 2025. Write The Kommersant.

A message on the EU Council website states: “Currently, the sanctions (sanctions – Kommersant) include a wide range of sectoral measures, including restrictions on trade, finance, technology and dual-use goods, industry, transport and luxury goods.”

The document states that restrictions also apply to oil imports, the SWIFT system of Russian banks and broadcasts of some media. In addition, European sanctions are aimed at combating circumvention of restrictions.

Since the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, the EU has imposed 14 sanctions on Russia. The latter were adopted on June 24. At the end of the same month, EU countries agreed to a new sanctions regime “to counter destabilizing actions abroad.”
