Sea urchins, seaweed snacks and sugar kelp cuttings during the Norwegian Web Conference on January 25-26. NofimaTogether with project partners fool, go out and Bellona A workshop was arranged in Tromsø for the low tropical aquaculture industry, researchers and policy makers. The network was launched by the NoLTANet project. Representatives of AquaVitae and its sister project ASTRAL attended the meeting.

Boechat concluded the workshop: “The participation of the participants gives us hope that, through joint efforts, low-trophic species will gain visibility in production and consumption in the coming years.”
Sister projects work together
Philip James, AquaVitae coordinator, was very pleased to see so many enthusiastic participants interested in LTA. He introduced the AquaVitae project and some of the main results. He also pointed out that while 90% of the world’s aquaculture is LTA, only 1% or less of aquaculture in Norway is LTA.
“I wonder what the future of the Land Transport Administration will look like in Norway”, James asked the audience.
Although there is relatively little LTA activity in Norway at the moment, interest in the network is very high and we hope that this will translate into more LTA activity in the future.
this Astral The project was represented on stage by coordinator Elisa Ravagnan from the research organization NORCE. ASTRAL has case studies on IMTA in Argentina, Ireland, South Africa, Brazil and Scotland.
“The EU recognises that IMTA is one of the options for the future development of aquaculture,” said Ravagnant.

The workshop organizing committee had to extend the workshop agenda to meet the interest of the participants. Lively discussions and excellent results concluded this networking meeting. The project partners have agreed to continue arranging such Norwegian networking meetings every year, led by Nofima.
We look forward to seeing many of the contestants again next year and meeting some new faces!
