Port Denarau Marina is proud to announce that its status as the first and only certified clean marina in the Pacific Islands has been renewed.

Located in western Fiji, just a 20-minute drive from the country’s international airport in Nadi, the marina is the official port of entry into Fiji’s idyllic cruising destination.

This rapidly developing marina has 52 fully equipped berths and 16 rotary moorings, including 20 berths suitable for superyachts up to 85 metres in length. On-site facilities also include a refit workshop as well as black water pump-out, bunkering and taxiing services.

This important certification, awarded by the Marina Industry Association (MIA) as part of the Clean Marinas Program (CMP) and Friendly Fish Program (FFP), was first granted in 2017 and renewed in April 2024 with its most recent audit.

The audit results showed that Port Denarau Marina scored 96.90% on the official audit checklist, well above the 85% score required to become a Class 3 International Clean Marina and Fish Friendly Marina.

Key to this high score was the Port Denarau Terminal’s efforts to protect the surrounding environment and implement renewable energy strategies, such as installing rainwater tanks and solar panels, and actively recycling waste despite Fiji’s limited recycling infrastructure.

A recent dredging campaign at Port Denarau Marina as part of the expansion plans has also now gathered valuable and extensive knowledge about the marine wildlife in the area, which will help inform opportunities for fish-friendly designs in future construction.

Yacht owners who love adventure know that it is difficult to find developed yachting facilities in far-flung and exotic destinations. Port Denarau Marina is the gateway to South Pacific sailing, providing owners with access to idyllic islands and the facilities needed for comfortable sailing.

Following its restoration to a clean and fish-friendly status, Port Denarau remains the marina of choice in the South Pacific, particularly attracting environmentally conscious boat owners who wish to explore the pristine wonders of Fijian waters while minimising impact on the country’s precious marine life.

“Port Denarau Marina looks forward to welcoming future yachting guests to Fiji’s beautiful cruising destinations,” said Chief Executive Officer Cynthia Rasch.
