Mr Mujubur Rahman, the Samaj Jana Baravega Colombo District Member of Parliament, said the President read out to Ranchi Bandara that the elections should be postponed in order to remove Ranchi as the UNP secretary general.
Mr. Rahiuman said there was a lot of opposition to Ranjit Bandara within the UNP and said it was something that Ranil Wickremesinghe could not do.
“When Long got the rope, he ate it. Now there is a background within the UNP to remove him from the post of general secretary. Ravi Karunanayake will take over the post of UNP general secretary. Mr. Mujubur Rahman said that due to the remarks made by the general secretary, a situation has arisen where even UNP members cannot take to the road.
