More than a month after the decision, the government re-expropriated the gas stations of the Tam-Oil company. In a note dated July 18, the Minister of Energy and Water Resources extended the closure of these fuel sales points for 60 days; at the same time, four others were expropriated.
The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources reiterated its decision to expropriate certain gas stations of Tam Oil. According to the Ministry of Energy, the company is still unable to resume its petroleum product distribution activities at local gas stations. “The requisition of the previous six (06) service stations for all staff members is renewed for a period of 60 days from July 21, 2024”which we can read in the comments.
In addition to these gas stations, the government also expropriated four (4) other gas stations. In particular, Ucatexth Bangui district; Sibut, in Kémo; Mbaïki, in Lobaye and Bossangoa, Ouham department. The management of all these service stations remains entrusted to two people, Prisca Roseline Mamadou and Souleymane Bassoum.
Obligations of managers
According to the Minister, Arthur Bertrand Piri, managers are obliged to: regularly service the gas stations; regularly pay employees’ wages in accordance with valid labor contracts; continue to withhold employee social contributions; cooperate with customs to collect national duties and taxes on products sold and keep gas stations open between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
On June 5, the Minister of Energy, Development and Water, Artur Bertrand Piri, decided to expropriate six Pan African Market Oil (Tam-Oil) gas stations and entrust them to individuals. This indicates that the company is unable to supply fuel to gas stations in Bangui and the interior of the country, causing fuel shortages. The Ministry of Energy and Water also imposed a fine of US$200 million on Tam-Oil.
