Yesterday, more than 600 internally displaced families living in the remote town of Hududdar in the Bakool region received humanitarian assistance.

Hudur has been isolated by Al-Shabaab for years, creating a humanitarian disaster that has been compounded by drought and flooding in the region.

According to the Somalia Disaster Management Authority, Hudur hosts more than 30,000 displaced people, most of whom have fled from other parts of the Bakool region.

Mohamed Maalim Abdul, chairman of the Somalia Disaster Management Authority, led officials to visit Hudur and briefed VOA’s Abdulkadir Samakab on the situation there.
