iciHaiti – Humanitarian: Tons of medical supplies have arrived in Haiti

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO-Haiti), with the help of the World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service, resumed the delivery of medical supplies last week after the Port-au-Prince International Airport was closed for three months.
PAHO has transferred more than 1.5 tons of medical products from its reserves in the Dominican Republic to support public hospitals and blood transfusion services in the capital, which are on the front lines of the emergency response.
The operation was made possible by support from the World Health Organization’s Emergency Response Fund.
Additionally, this week, the World Food Programme was able to land a cargo plane in Port-au-Prince for the first time in three months. The plane carried 15 tons of medical supplies This is what our partners urgently need. WFP is supporting the humanitarian community through aviation and logistics.
