Dr. Valeria announced on Friday that the National Health Insurance Corporation (CNAS) will have a new computer system in about two years with working capabilities “significantly better” than the current platform, which will allow the system to be debureaucratized. Agerpres cited CNAS President Herdea as saying.
“The new IT platform will include everything that is currently available, plus many novelties. We are working on the possibility for Romanian citizens to get prescriptions from anywhere in Europe, not just in Romania, so that prescriptions no longer exist in paper form. Secondly, this new platform will take steps to give every citizen access to their own electronic files, but also to ensure the security of this data. We are basically rewriting this platform, we are trying not only to resize it, but also to make it interoperable, so that all healthcare providers can see the patient’s record, so that they can help them, they can intervene and make life easier for the patient’s route. In addition, it will have a friendly interface, which will also allow disabled people to access to retrieve data and access their own files. Some important steps are being taken, but they will take a long time”, explains Valeria Herdea. The president of CNAS states that the foundation of the new IT platform is data security. “Our most important desire is to protect the data of all Romanians, and we need cybersecurity more than ever. (…) The system ensures the confidentiality of our data, not the confidentiality of what goes into these systems. We need this more than ever”, Herdea emphasizes.
