SLP Press Statement
The attention of the Sierra Leone police was drawn to a video widely circulated on social media in which a man named Abdul Kadiru Kai Kar made it clear in our local parlance: βI will not be president in 2028 either, otherwise it will bring a serious war, if I will not be president, I will bring war, I will not expect it, I will not prepare for war, I will not prepare for war, I will not raise $3.3 million for Mashekaβ¦β
This quote can be roughly translated as: Don’t be the president of Serra Leone.
In 2028, I will plan and launch a major war in Sierra Leone, far more serious than anyone expects. I am fully prepared and have even budgeted for it. To start a war in Sierra Leone, all it will take is a fight in Masiaka, and $3.3 million will be enough.
In view of the seriousness of the statement and its implications for national security, the Sierra Leone Police through the Criminal Investigation Department launched an investigation into the video circulating on social media and has arrested the suspect (Abdul Kadiru Kai Kai) who is currently in custody.
The investigation will seek to determine the truthfulness of the statement and the intentions and motives of the person who made the statement. The results of the investigation will be released to the public in due course.
We encourage the general public to continue to live their lives as normal while ensuring their own safety.
