Renewable Energy AustraliaSun CableLeadAAPowerLinkthe world’s largest renewable energy andTransmission Projects,recentgetLocal government officials and the Environmental Protection Agency gave the green light. The first phase of the project is to build a 10GW power plant in the Barkly region of Australia’s Northern Territory.Solar farmand then transmit 4GW of clean electricity to Darwin in the north around the clock; the next stage is to transmit 1.75GW of Australian solar energy via Indonesia to Singapore through a 4,300-kilometer submarine cable. In terms of schedule, the final investment decision (FID) will be issued in 2027 and power will start in the early 2030s.

As the world’s first intercontinental power grid, it is expected to create more than AUD 20 billion (approximately HKD 105.1 billion) in economic value for Australia’s Northern Territory during the planned construction period and the first 35 years of operation. During the construction phase alone, an average of 6,800 jobs will be provided each year, with a peak workforce of 14,300 people. Cameron Garnsworthy, Managing Director of SunCable Australia, said that forward-looking projects including green minerals, hydrogen, electronic fuels, and data centers will help support a new wave of green industrial development in the Northern Territory.
