Somali government forces displayed fuel containers and other supplies seized in the Galgaduud region, believed to be destined for al-Shabaab. The operation also captured two women suspected of joining the militant group.
DUSAMAREB (HOL) โ Somali government forces in the Galguduud region have seized barrels of fuel and other supplies believed to be destined for Al-Shabaab-controlled areas, officials reported.
The operation also resulted in the killing of an armed al-Shabaab member and the capture of two women allegedly members of the militant group.
The Somali National Army (SNA) overpowered the armed man, who was carrying an AK-47 rifle, at a checkpoint in the Masagawa region, preventing him from launching an attack, according to an official statement.
The two women were arrested while riding in a vehicle suspected of transporting supplies to al-Shabaab.
Government forces in Galgaduud have stepped up monitoring of vehicle movements, intercepting vehicles carrying supplies to the extremist group on several occasions. These actions are part of a broader campaign to disrupt al-Shabaab’s supply lines and weaken its combat capabilities.
