Turkey’s Defense Ministry said in a statement that Turkey is the country that has made the greatest contribution to maintaining Syria’s territorial integrity, noting that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed his willingness to engage in dialogue with Syria.
“Turkey’s presence in Syria is based on the principle of self-defense and is aimed at eliminating terrorist attacks and threats to its territory, protecting its borders and preventing the emergence of a terrorist corridor in northern Syria,” the statement said.
“Our military operations in northern Syria have made a significant contribution to maintaining the unity of the Syrian territory,” the statement said.
“We want to eliminate terrorism in Syria, secure its territorial integrity, restore political stability, and ensure that the Syrian people live in peace and security,” the Turkish Defense Ministry concluded.
Earlier, Erdogan announced that Ankara would invite President Bashar, and the invitation could be at any time, expressing the hope that Turkish-Syrian relations would return to normal.
Assad said that if the meeting with Erdogan is fruitful and in the national interest, I will hold this meeting.
