An autopsy on Gaitrie Katrian, 25, from Boskamp, Suriname, showed she died from ingesting gasoline.
Katrin wakes up Monday found lifeless The Starlight Hotel in Berbice, Guyana. Police suspect her death occurred between Sunday, July 14 and Monday, July 15.
She was found unconscious in her room by hotel staff around 5:10 pm on Monday.
She was lying face down on the bed with a white teacup next to her head. She was wearing only a bra and leggings.
Two bottles containing a red substance, believed to be gasoline, were found in the sink next to the bed.
The deceased’s cousin, Diana Singh, told Guyanese media that Katrian had left Suriname more than a week ago to spend a few days with her uncle.
Her family had not been in contact with her since she arrived in the country and were not informed until Monday by the hotel where her body was found, lifeless.
According to Singh, Kaitlyn was found with blood coming out of her nose and blood on her bed sheets.
Singh revealed that her niece had developed an addiction to the smell of petrol and that the problem had started a few months ago.
