Woman buys hoarding house, but it’s not full of junk

“I would do anything to go back and do it again because it was by far the most fun, coolest, most interesting experience of my life,” she said.

“It’s really been a treasure hunt.”

Lima and her boyfriend found the property after a day of checking out apartments that were expensive but lacked basic amenities like wardrobes.

“We passed a single-storey family home and it was so cheap, we were confused… something must be going on here,” she said. “Why was the price so low?” “No one wanted to buy it.”

“We thought we were going to be like typical hoarders and just throw out all the junk and start decorating, but once we walked in and started sorting through the stuff, we were like, ‘Oh my god, this stuff is so good.’

“It was incredible how well-preserved and organized the treasures and everything in it were. We thought, ‘We better take our time.'”

The estate is subject to legal proceedings. Lima said the seller was cognitively unable to participate in the cleanup and no next of kin represented him. They instead dealt with a third party and court liaison while respecting the estate the man had collected.

The couple renovated the house and lived happily ever after.

They have great respect for items that represent the life of this person and his parents, and have found good homes for many of them.
