Budget rebalancing is tailor-made

Prime Minister Hristjan Mykoski told Sittel TV last night that the budget is in a worrying state, short of funds and the investigative authorities will have a lot of work to do in the next period. As he said, the money for the promised increase in pensions will be available.

“They drew up a six-month budget as if they knew they would no longer be in government, so they tried to leave as many issues as possible to the new government so that billions of dinars were not resolved. They have to fulfil legal obligations, which were not foreseen in the budget… but I think the investigative authorities will have a lot of work to do in the following period,” Mikoski said.

In response, SDSM said there was money in the budget.

“VMRO-DPMNE has been looking for an alibi for its incompetence since day one. We told him to stop making excuses for not having money in the budget. This is an excuse for the bad policies he is planning, such as suspending the wage increase policy and borrowing 500 million euros from Budapest. For seven consecutive years, the SDSM government continued to provide salaries for all employees of the public administration and enterprises in the context of a world crisis. Citizens know that the SDSM played a role for seven years in an apocalyptic economic crisis or an economic tsunami, if we want to use the vocabulary of VMRO-DPMNE. The SDSM never complained and provided funds to meet all needs. “Mikoski has no intention of working seriously and responsibly, but through accusations against the SDSM, he created a budget to implement his wrong policies,” the SDSM stated in its response.

Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska has told the media over the past period that there will be money for wages, pensions and all obligations under the law, and that non-productive spending will be cut.

Once the government adopts the rebalancing, it should submit it to Parliament, with a vote expected in the first half of August at the latest.
