Pachuca (Mexico) Uruguayan coach Guillermo Almada’s Tuosos de Pachuca beat San Luis 2-0 in the Mexican Apetura soccer tournament on Tuesday with a stellar performance from their young talent.

At the start of the third day, rookie Carlos Sanchez and Alan Batista scored a goal each and were key to Tussauds’ victory over St. Louis, led by Spanish coach Domenech Torrent.

In the absence of top scorer Venezuelan Salomon Rondon and best passer Moroccan Oussama Idrissi, Pachuca chose rookies and played well together to achieve their first victory of the tournament.

In the 33rd minute, Sanchez scored with his left foot outside the penalty area, changing the score to 1-0. In the 52nd minute, Bautista received a pass from Sanchez and scored with his right foot, expanding the lead.

With this victory, the locals jumped to sixth place in the standings with one win, one draw and one loss.

In other matches, Atlas beat Santos Laguna 1-0 and Chivas Guadalajara beat Querétaro 0-2.

Atlas moved up to third place thanks to Jeremy Marquez’s 65th-minute right-foot goal, while Guadalajara moved up to eighth place thanks to goals from Cade Cowell and Alan Mozzo.

That same Tuesday, Cruz Azul, coached by the Argentine Martín Anselmi, won over second-placed Xolos de Tijuana, commanded by the Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio, in a duel between the only teams that maintained a perfect score.

In the other match of the day, Puebla will face León at its stadium.

The day’s matches, which will end on Wednesday, include Necaxa-Monterrey, Juarez FC-UNAM, Toluca-Mazatlan and Tigres UANL-Américas. JS
