Russia recognizes and welcomes Sahel National Security and Development Initiative

The Russian Federation has officially recognized the creation of the Alliance for the Sahel (AES), a new organization created by the heads of state of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger to strengthen security and promote development in the Sahel countries.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova expressed her country’s support for the initiative. In an official statement, she welcomed this “noble” and promising approach of the Sahel leaders. “These days we heard about the creation of the Alliance of Sahel States. As a result, on July 1, Niamey held its first summit with the Presidents of Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traoré, Niger, Abdourahmane Tiani and Mali, Assimi Goita,” she said.

Zakharova stressed the importance of the new federation, which aims to consolidate the member states and ensure their security and economic prosperity. She also stressed the need for coordination at the level of the armed forces and cooperation in key areas such as agriculture, finance and the economy.

AES Alliance Goals and Aspirations
The establishment of the AES Alliance reflects the desire of the Sahel countries to solve common problems and promote sustainable development. Zakharova clarified that this initiative is in full compliance with the aspirations of the people of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger and will have a positive impact on regional security.

“We see in the aspirations of this alliance the desire to address common issues among these countries to promote sustainable development,” she added.

Russia’s commitment
Russia has confirmed its willingness to provide active support to the Alliance for the Sahel. This support will include security assistance, training of military personnel and police agencies, and development of economic cooperation. “Russia confirms its intention to support the Alliance for the Sahel as much as possible,” Zakharova said, stressing the importance of such cooperation for stability and progress in the region.
