Minister Nduhungirehe receives 2024 election observer team

They are observers participating in the electoral events to be held on August 15-16, 2024. They include the African Union and COMESA members, led by the former leader of Cape Verde, Mr. Jorge Carlos Fonseca, and His Excellency Ruhakana Rugunda, former Prime Minister of Cape Verde and Uganda.

According to an announcement from the Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Nduhongirehe and the observers discussed activities leading up to the elections for the Head of State and Members of Parliament to be held on July 14, 15 and 16, 2024.

These actions enabled the candidate put forward by the RPF-Inkotani community to win the primary election with more than 78% of the votes counted, as announced by the Electoral Commission (NEC).

In addition to these observers, Minister Nduhongirehe also received the Moroccan Ambassador to Rwanda, Youssef Imani. Although the talks have not been announced, the two countries share cooperation, each country has its own representatives, and the people of Rwanda and Morocco already have relations with each other.

Normally, there are more than 120 Rwandans living in Morocco, mostly young students attending universities in different cities of the country, as Morocco has good relations with Rwanda.

Among others received by Ambassador Nduhongirehe was Ambassador Johanna Teague of Sweden, where they were discussing strengthening the existing cooperation, which would benefit both countries and their peoples.

Sweden has a partnership with Rwanda, where the country supports Rwanda’s poverty alleviation program.

For example, in the Gakanke District, the State provided support to members of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and Foreign Federal Development Office (FCDO) project partners (about 11,000 people, mostly women) to help them escape poverty.
