A third of US President Joe Biden’s supporters believe the assassination attempt on former White House chief Donald Trump was staged.

As the publication noted, more than 33% of Biden supporters said, “The attack was carefully planned and was never intended to kill the former president.” Twelve percent of Trump supporters held a similar view.
Newsweek noted that one in five respondents found the theory that the assassination attempt was staged plausible, but 62 percent did not believe that version was credible.
The assassination attempt on Trump took place on July 13 during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The bullet hit the former president’s ear and he was not in danger of death. The shooting killed one of his supporters. The perpetrator of the attack was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who has been killed. The perpetrator’s motive remains unclear.
