The journalist, whose name has topped the search engine charts in the past few hours, was named Ahmed Schubert, a former goalkeeper for the Egyptian national team and Al Ahly club, the board of directors of Egypt’s United Media Services announced unanimously on Thursday to suspend his program and terminate his contract immediately.
What does the company say?
“The board of directors of United Media Services has unanimously decided to stop the show hosted by Ahmed Shubir, which will lead to the immediate termination of the contract in accordance with the media contract signed with him,” the company said in a statement.
She added: “As violations of the company’s professional rules and content policies are unacceptable, United makes it a priority to respect Egyptian public opinion.”
The United Company’s board stressed that “the chaos in the sports media sector requires decisive confrontation to ensure the rights of Egyptian citizens to sports media that respects facts and strives to be honest.”
The United Company concluded by stressing that “its staff are passionate about providing professional media that respects its audience and will not hesitate to stop anyone who deviates from the professional standards it has upheld since its inception.”
How did the crisis begin?
There is a sense of anger on Egyptian social networking sites as Ahmed Schubert’s previous comments about Hyundai Future player Ahmed Refaat are circulating again, as he claimed that he was taking steroids, which caused him to collapse on the field.
Egyptian media reported that Refat was facing a crisis related to travel permits involving the former president of Hyundai Sports Club and his deputies, while the player was convicted by the military judiciary for a case of conscription evasion, which led to his six months in prison, causing a psychological and health crisis.
After the player’s death, the public recalled the accusations made by Schubert against him last March when the player’s heart stopped for the first time, which were related to the psychological pressure caused by the player’s crisis and led to his death, because he was the vice president of the club when the player’s crisis began two years ago.
How did Schubert and his son react?
In response, Schubert announced that he had filed a report with the Information Technology Investigation Department regarding some of the pages, as he was accused of being one of those responsible for the crisis involving the player Ahmed Rifaat.
He stressed on the show that he had nothing to do with what Rifaat had been exposed to while he was vice-president of the future club, saying: “All these accusations are false and whoever has evidence against me should present it to the public. .. I will exercise all my rights under the law.”
His son, Al Ahly goalkeeper Mustafa Schubert, also came to the defense of his father, condemning the attempt to implicate his name in the psychological crisis faced by the late player Ahmed Refat, writing on his official Instagram account: “What is the difference between accusing you without knowledge or knowledge and those who wrongly accuse Refat? The player’s brother named a person in a crisis, and in front of the player’s agent, where exactly is Schubert’s name in the story?
He added: “These allegations against my father are all false, but people believe everything that is recorded without confirmation… Be upright people, and may God have mercy on you.”
Is it because of the paradise of Arriva?
The matter is not limited to the Ahmed Refat crisis, as Ahmed Schubert made some remarks on the “On Time Sports” channel regarding the crisis of the Egyptian national cycling team member Shahed Saeed and her colleague Jenna Eliva, which were reported as one of the reasons for his suspension.
Schubert appeared in his last episode to defend Shahed Syed, who caused broken ribs and concussion to her colleague Jenna Aliva. The video angered pioneers of the social networking site, asking not to be swayed by the noise of the trend, desperate to stick to the player’s decision to travel.
What does Schubert have to say about the suspension decision?
Ahmed Schubert reiterated his commitment to the United’s decision to suspend him, stressing that he had not wronged anyone and had not committed any violations in his career, and revealed that he had not received a response to his request to leave the “On Time Sports” channel two months ago.
“I and many of my colleagues have been under multiple pressures while working at the channel,” he added, via Telegraph Egypt, stressing that he is fully satisfied with himself and has not made any mistakes that violate norms and guidelines. I was surprised to learn that the management of the joint company intends to stop my project and is moving towards … canceling the contract.
“Is it logical that the cause of this development is my handling of the case of cyclist Shahad Saeed and approving her Olympic qualification despite the famous incident with her colleague Jana Aliwa?” Schubert asked. “I have become a diabetic and hypertensive due to changes in dietary policy and many red lines, but my livelihood is in God’s hands… Even if I never return to work and am reported in the media again,” he continued.
