Paul Kagame elected to lead Rwanda for next five years
According to preliminary election results, Paul Kagame, nominated by the Rwandan Patriotic Front-Inkotani organization, was elected as the leader of Rwanda for the next five years.
The National Electoral Commission (NEC) announced that Paul Kagame won 99.15% of the votes, Dr. Frank Habineza won 0.53% and Mpayimana Philip won 0.32%.
In the election among Rwandans abroad, the NEC showed that the primary results showed that they had a voter turnout of 52.73% out of 40,675 votes cast. Among the diaspora, Paul Kagame was elected with 95.40% of the votes, Dr. Frank Habinesa was elected with 2.15% and Mpayimana with 2.45%.
The National Electoral Commission said that in the election held on Monday 15th for the interior region of Rwanda, namely the Northern Province, the preliminary census showed that Paul Kagame was elected with 77.87% of the votes (1,151,970 people). In the province, Dr. Habineza Frank received 0.27% and Mpayimana Phillipe received 0.08%.
The National Electoral Commission showed that 78.57% of the votes had been counted in the Southern Province, which has a population of 1,615,265. In the province, Paul Kagame received 98.60% of the votes, Dr. Habineza Frank received 0.73% and Mpayimana Philippe received 0.67%.
The Eastern Province polled 78.65 per cent, equivalent to 1,766,799 people, with Paul Kagame ahead of the other candidates as he received 99.30 per cent of the votes, Dr Habineza 0.66 per cent and Mpayimana 0.05 per cent.
The Western Province has a population of 1,607,932 people, accounting for 78.86%. Paul Kagame was elected with 99.60% of the votes, followed this time by Mpayimana Philippe with 0.29% and Dr. Habinesa with 0.11%.
In Kigali, the National Electoral Commission showed that Paul Kagame was provisionally elected with 98.59% of the votes, Dr. Frank Habinesa received 0.96% and Mpayimana received 0.44%.
Overall, the election results basically showed that the candidate proposed by the RPF-Inkotani community, Paul Kagame, received 99.15% of the votes, Dr. Habineza Frank received 0.53% of the votes, and Mpayimana Philip received 0.32% of the votes.
After announcing the election results, Paul Kagame thanked the people of Rwanda for their choice in the election. He also praised his family members who had been close to him during the campaign and said they were his pillar of support.
Paul Kagame also thanked Rwandans for the trust they have placed in him, saying it gave him strength and would not let him down because he was confident that he would embark on the journey of development with Rwandans and the work must continue.
He said: “If you look at it, I believe that we have done a lot of activities over the years, and sometimes it has been difficult, and some people think that I am a complacent person. I will not be complacent for no reason, no matter how difficult we have been or will be in the future, because this is what I said, I hope to solve any problem with you.
It is planned that on July 20, 2024, the National Election Commission will provisionally announce the results of the presidential and House of Representatives elections, and on July 27, 2024, announce the final results of the presidential and House of Representatives elections.
