NIAMEY, July 11 (Xinhua) — The Nigerien military said on the 11th that defense and security forces killed at least six terrorists near the village of Abdouganjani in the Tillaberi region of western Niger.
The military said in a communication that during the raids conducted on Tuesday, “our troops arrested nine terrorists and seized a large quantity of material in Bankilare, Torodi and Tounga areas of the same district”.
Located in the “tri-border” region (Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso), the village of Abdouganj has been threatened by jihadist groups in recent years and has become a new security risk in the country’s southwesternmost region.
