The National Party said it will field 56 candidates for the Gozo local council election, 15 of whom will be under 30 years old.
“This clearly shows that the National Party is a vibrant party that attracts talented young people who want to bring wealth to the local area. In Gozo, the National Party candidates are united in every area.”
This was the message from shadow chancellor Alex Borg and National Party Local Councillors Committee chairman Charles Bonello at a press conference in Zebug, Gozo.
They said, “In Zebug, the National Party sees the promotion of local products to maintain local identity and promote it at a higher level. In addition, they organize events with local associations to give local identity.”
In Zebugi, the National Party said, “the government will designate a piece of land as a Family Creative Park, while continuing the process of reclaiming the Carbajal Battery so that it will not be abandoned but will be enjoyed by the public and the historical heritage will be preserved.”
They also said the Nationals would continue to pressure the government to rebuild a much-needed breakwater on Marsaforn Island and insist that no marina be built on Marsaforn Beach, which should instead be retained as a tourist area.
In addition, they said, “a committee led by a nationalist majority would improve sports and recreational facilities throughout the region.”
Among other proposals, the National Party said it would continue to increase accessibility and other assistance to farmers as much as possible with the help of local and European funds.
