Next Sunday, July 14, the free “Lima Run 5K for Blood Donation” race will be held. This event will encourage more people to voluntarily donate blood and benefit hundreds of patients who need blood to improve their health.
The departure and arrival point will be Washington Park, located at Av. Arequipa 502. The rally will begin at 6:00 AM and the race will start at 8:00 AM. Ministry of Health (Minsa) and Lima City Hall They organized this event to promote a healthy lifestyle and make participants aware of the importance of voluntary blood donation.
The race is 5 km long and has four categories: free, master, visually impaired and physically impaired. During the event, experts from the Minsa General Directorate of Donation, Transplantation and Blood Bank (Digdot) will be present, who will provide information on the health benefits of voluntary blood donation.
We remember that last year, on June 14, World Blood Donor Day was observed. Within the framework of that day, the Ministry of Health, through the country’s regional health administrations and councils, conducted various voluntary blood donation campaigns. In this way, blood banks could maintain their supplies.
Men and women over 18 and under 60, as well as minors with parental authorization, can donate. You must weigh more than 50 kg, be in good health, and show your ID. You don’t need to go on an empty stomach, you just need to avoid fat at breakfast.

It is important to note that men can donate once every three months and women once every four months. People with tattoos or piercings can donate blood one year after their last donation.
