Foreign investment rises to 2.5 trillion riyals

As of the end of the first quarter of this year, the country’s cumulative foreign investment reached 2.553 trillion riyals, compared with 2.143 trillion riyals at the end of the same quarter of 2023. In addition to foreign direct investment flows, it also includes portfolio investments worth 1.089 trillion riyals, debt securities worth 606.45 billion riyals, and stocks and investment fund shares worth 483.16 billion riyals. Foreign investment also includes other investments worth 646.39 billion riyals, including loans, currency, deposits and other accounts.

At the end of the first quarter of 2024, the total foreign direct investment into the Saudi economy increased by 6.05%, an increase of 46.65 billion riyals from the end of the same quarter of the previous year.

Total foreign direct investment in the Saudi economy reached 817.69 billion riyals at the end of the first quarter of this year, compared with 771.04 billion riyals at the end of the same quarter of 2023, according to data from the Saudi Arabian Central Bank (SAMA). Net foreign direct investment inflows into the Saudi economy in the first quarter of 2024 amounted to 9.471 billion riyals, compared with 9.019 billion riyals in the first quarter of 2023, a year-on-year increase of 5.01% in net flows.
