A man dreamed that his wife cheated on him, so he filed for divorce

In an unexpected turn of events, a Bulawayo man filed for divorce after he had recurring dreams of his wife cheating on him.

Energy Moyo, who lives in the suburb of Lobenvale, has been married to Angela Dube for nine years. He recently filed a divorce application at the Bulawayo Customary Court, citing his frequent dreams of his wife being unfaithful as the reason for their separation. Despite the lack of hard evidence, Moyo’s dreams convinced him that Dube was unfaithful.

In his court application, Moyo described recurring dreams of his wife being romantically involved with another man, who happened to be their neighbor, causing him great distress and causing him to doubt his wife’s fidelity.

In his application, Moyo wrote that “the marital relationship between the parties has irretrievably broken down and there is no prospect of a return to a normal marriage between the parties,” stressing that the dreams had made their relationship irreparable.

Moyo explained that these disturbing dreams began shortly after their marriage and continued for years, eroding the love, affection, trust and respect they once had. Although he had no solid reason to believe his wife was unfaithful, these persistent dreams made it impossible for him to continue with the marriage.

Moyo also claimed that she attempted to discuss the dreams with Dube, who verbally and physically abused her. This abuse, combined with the distress caused by the dreams, prompted Moyo to file for divorce.

In addition to the divorce, Moyo is also asking for custody of their two children and an equal division of the family assets. He said he wants the best for the children and believes an equal division of assets is fair.

The case is yet to be heard by the Bulawayo Customary Court. It remains to be seen how the court will deal with this unusual divorce application based on a dream.
