Spanish midfielder Rodri was named the best player of Euro 2024 after helping the Spanish national team win its fourth Euro 2024 title by beating England 2-1 in Berlin on Sunday.
Rodri was substituted at half-time of the final with a knee injury but was rewarded for his impressive performance as Spain also beat hosts Germany and France to reach the final.
The Manchester City player’s only goal in the tournament was the equaliser in the round of 16, which ended in a 4-1 win over Georgia.
However, he was hailed as a “perfect computer” by coach Luis de la Fuente for his rhythmic passing and reading of the game, which was crucial in guiding a young team through an extremely tough draw to the title.
Rodri has lost just one of his last 80 games for club and country and can add the European Championship title to his dazzling list of trophies in that time.
The 28-year-old has won two Premier League titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup, a UEFA Super Cup and a Club World Cup with Manchester City, as well as the Nations League with Spain.
