AMALGAMATED Telecommunications Holdings (ATH) has announced the election of union heartland figure Attar Singh as president and Suva lawyer Tanya Waqanika as deputy chairperson of the ATH board of directors.
In a statement released this week to the South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX), ATH said the new board leadership will help support its continued efforts to thrive and expand its presence in the Pacific region.
“Mr. Singh brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his new position as ATH Chairman.
“His distinguished career includes roles as a union leader, board director and chairman of the boards of other large entities in Fiji and abroad. During his tenure as a director of ATH and as director/chairman of other ATH subsidiaries, he played an instrumental role in driving innovation and growth within the ATH Group,” ATH said.
“Ms Waqanika is a highly respected lawyer and businesswoman who was elected as Vice Chair by the ATH Board of Directors.
“Her expertise in legal matters and governance will be invaluable in navigating the complex regulatory environment of the telecommunications industry. Her commitment to excellence and integrity ensures that ATH will continue to uphold the highest standards in all of its operations.”
ATH has subsidiaries in Fiji, Kiribati, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Samoa, American Samoa and Papua New Guinea. It is the only telecom company listed on the SPX, and its shares last traded at $2.20 per share at press time.
