The world has changed rapidly in the past few years. The pandemic has forced us to work from home, and has also made many technologies popular and permanent. Now people are familiar with various office software such as Zoom, and are used to “starting work” no matter where they are. The author has held meetings with people in different places for several hours in a row, and has also completed project development with team members on work software. With the popularity of ChatGPT, Generative AI has gradually become a part of daily life, and the impact on the workplace has also begun to appear, and the work model has changed again.

Many people have regarded the note-taking software Notion as their second brain. In line with the rapid development of AI, Notion has recently added AI functions and launched Notion Sites. Simply put, it converts Notion pages into web page formats and provides a dedicated URL. After publishing, the user’s page becomes a website and is uploaded to the Internet. Not only does it greatly shorten the time to build a website, but the synchronous update function also allows users to quickly upload and share the latest content.

Perplexity.ai, an AI search engine that provides answers to questions without users having to search online one by one, has been seen as a rising star that has the potential to overturn Google’s hegemony. Its latest new feature “Pages” further consolidates its position. Perplexity Pages automatically generates a report-style webpage uploaded to the Internet to share with other users based on the questions and needs provided by users. It is worth noting that AI’s answers are no longer limited to short paragraphs, but a complete article.

Notion and Perplexity.ai, the former is a note-taking software launched in recent years, and the latter is a new AI company established less than two years ago. They have both launched new tools to make it easier to publish and collaborate online, thereby popularizing AI’s collaborative knowledge generation. If you think about it carefully, the creation foundation of these two applications is based on the same concept, that is, collaboration, sharing, collision of ideas and creation of knowledge. The newly added features will add more content to the Internet. This content becomes the search results or index of search engines, which in turn changes the way people process knowledge.

While Microsoft and Google are still working to improve their office software or add new features in order to cope with the AI wave and maintain their market share, emerging companies have already “changed the track” and used AI to develop new and more efficient application methods. As a user, it is natural to be happy and excited to see that companies are not just “living on their old capital” in the collaborative environment of AI tools, but building new ways of thinking and creating new functions.

Just as we applied the experience of working from home to teaching during the pandemic, we are working hard to study how to use AI to innovate teaching methods and integrate it into learning and teaching. I believe that the Alpha generation, who grew up in an environment where traditional knowledge, lifestyles, and all walks of life will be overturned, will bring us more and greater surprises.
