Mexico City (apro) – During the Fifth Forum on Reform of the Justice Sector in Veracruz, Morena state congressman Leonel Godoy said it was false that the 18 reforms proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador would not be modified because he does not like “chicanadas”.
“We have said it, and we repeat it here, in this auditorium, in front of the state power, which is here to listen, to dialogue, to pay attention, because the president’s 18 initiatives for constitutional reform are a lie, including reforms of federal and local jurisdictions, they will not be amended, nothing will change. It is not like that.
“Everything that helps ensure that justice, as provided for by the Constitution, is done promptly, promptly and freely in our country will be taken into account. We will pay great attention to everything that helps. We don’t like ‘Mexicans’, we don’t like to put up obstacles and we don’t want to do that,” he stressed.
The Morenoist representative also said that in the June 2 elections, the people voted for reform of the judiciary, and they have made this demand in all the places that Mexico’s virtual president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, has visited.
“The referendum of June 2 made it clear that the federal judiciary should be reformed. Some of us accompanied the candidate, today’s President-elect Claudia Scheinbaum, on many visits to the country, and she always said in all public squares that “those who support judges being appointed by the Senate for magistrates and ministers being appointed by the Senate” and those who support them being elected by the people”.
“Nowhere have our votes been so overwhelming as to say that this reform will take place. This is our mission, we come here with dignity but at the same time with humility to listen, to dialogue, because this is the task of politicians,” he stressed.
