Geneva (Very) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned that the Gaza Strip risks losing an entire generation of children due to the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 7 last year.
“If this war continues, the Gaza Strip is on the verge of losing an entire generation of children,” Wafa news agency quoted UNRWA’s director of media and communications Juliet Touma as saying on the “X” platform, explaining: “There are 600,000 people in Gaza. Since the beginning of the war, this child has not been able to go to school.”
Touma said many schools had been closed and UNRWA schools had been turned into shelters for displaced persons, stressing that it would be difficult to prevent educational losses if children were absent from school.
UN officials called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for the sake of these children.
