Bishop Rugamba arrested
National Criminal Investigation Bureau (RIB) spokesperson Dr. Thierry Murangira told Kigali Today that the information was authentic.
Dr. Thierry Murangira did not reveal any information about him, where he is being held, the amount of the cheque issued by Bishop Rugamba Albert, the Senior Pastor of Bethesda Holy Church, and when the RIB would arrest him as investigations are ongoing.
He said, “He is indeed locked up, he was charged for inspection, there is not much to say and it will not interfere with the investigation.”
Law No. 060/2021 of October 14, 2021 regulating negotiable instruments provides that a person who issues a check confirmed by the court may be sentenced to imprisonment for not less than two years but not more than five years and a fine of twice the amount in Rwandan currency and not less than five times but not more than ten times the value of the check.
