A joint inspection carried out by representatives of the Anti-Corruption Commission (CAC), the Public Service Commission (CFP), the State Inspectorate (IGE) and the Directorate General for State Assets (DGGPE) confirmed that yesterday, July 9, 2024, the stocks of medicines at the National Institute of Pharmacy and Medical Products (INFPM) are sufficient to meet national needs until February 2025.
During a surprise inspection on Tuesday, it was found that INFPM maintained adequate levels of medicines to meet the country’s health needs.
“The current ‘stock’ is equivalent to 27% of demand until July, which guarantees supply until December 2024 and remains viable in January and February 2025,” said Agapito da Conceição, the CFP’s disciplinary commissioner.
Rosário Salsinha Araújo, Director of Prevention and Awareness at the CAC, stressed that INFPM is an important resource for the Ministry of Health, stressing that “direct observations at INFPM warehouses show that the quantities of medicines are sufficient”.
“The medicines in INFPM warehouses are sufficient to meet national needs until January or February 2025,” said INFPM Executive Director Brigido Simão Dias de Deus, who also mentioned that the process of procuring more medicines is underway and many of them are already on the way.
